Pasadena, March. A 74-year-old man goes over a terrace wall. His gardener finds him at 7:20 and waits thirty-two minutes to call anyone. PI Stan Kowski has eleven days before probate closes and a houseful of people being helpful. Every answer costs him something. One of them is telling the truth beautifully.
